Self-confidence

The ability to focus one's concentration
A feeling that one is close to maximum potential.

1. Increase an athlete's self-image and self-confidence
2. Make athletic performances more consistent.
3. Enhance relaxation and decrease tension before, after and during competition.
4. Improve concentration
5. Reduce sensitivity to pain.
An athlete whose goals are vague, "play better" will probably always be dissatisfied. Who judges this success.

The athlete must have concrete goals that are totally within the player's control and not dependent on other factors in order to measure his success or failure."
A goal gives you something you work toward.
Team spirit. shared goals imply team spirit and a sense of unity.
Mental rehearsals. Strive for consistency. regular workouts are the backbone of successful performance. Aptitude and natural talent cannot serve as a substitute.
Be up for competition: Ritualistic techniques... no... game plan and preparation. Get relaxed and know that you have done everything you need to do to get prepared beforehand.

Arousal a state of eager readiness to play.

1. Before competition, don't deviate from your usual practices.
2. spend a few minutes each day thinking about how you want to perform. Don't wait until the night before competition.
3. Do whatever works for you in order to achieve a physical emotional high. Avoid depressing or upsetting thoughts.
4. Limit personal conflicts. Don't quarrel the day of the game.
5. Look forward to competition. Plan to enjoy it.

Relax. The relaxation problem can be stubbornly difficult to eradicate because it is likely to be rooted in early experiences, when adult expectations often ask of a child more than he or she is able, physically or emotionally, to give.

Pressure... most athletes who react unfavorably to pressure are simply trying too hard, possibly as a result of a coach's repeated admonitions to give 150%. Asking 90% in order free them from undue pressure. Physiologically, nervousness has a number of adverse effects. It increases heart rate, blood pressure, muscle tension and the flow of perspiration. It also causes rapid breathing, insomnia, nausea, blurred vision and a need to urinate frequently. Psychologically, it produces sensations of panic and confusion and can cause dizziness, depression, lack of coordination and feeling of fatigue.
